Kalar Students Participate in Spelling Bee Competition
Grade 3-4 students at Kalar International School, a SABIS® PPP school, took part in a Spelling Bee Competition on November 14, 2015. Responsible for organizing this event was the SABIS Student Life Organization®’s (SLO®) Academic Department.
Once the students arrived to the event, they were divided into two groups, the Grade 3 section and the Grade 4 section. For each grade, the students were split up into four groups, with Grade 3 having five people per group and Grade 4 having four people per group.
Then, the students were told the rules of the competition by an English teacher. During the first part of the Spelling Bee, all the Grade 3 students competed against each other in groups, with Group B winning in Grade 3. After that, the second part of the competition was among the Grade 4 groups, with Group B also becoming the winner for Grade 4.
In the final part of the game Group B in Grade 3 and Group B in Grade 4 competed against one another. After a fierce competition between them, the Grade 4 group was declared the winner of the Spelling Bee. At the end of the event, all the students received a certificate of participation for taking part in the competition.
Such an event was held to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, and learn new concepts that will help them throughout their lives. “I was excited in the competition and it was good practice to improve our spelling skills and correct English usage,” a student said.
