Kalar Students Collect Donations for Less Fortunate
All students at Kalar International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, participated in a charity campaign to collect donations for displaced families in Kurdistan on October 28, 2017.
Prefects in the Social Responsibility Department of the SABIS Student Life Organization® (SLO®) worked with all the students collecting clothes, canned food, blankets, diapers, and other necessities for three weeks. On lunch breaks, the prefects would devote their time to organizing and packing all these items to deliver them to families that have been displaced.
The prefects with teachers and staff then visited the location with a truck full of items that were donated to distribute them directly to these families. Upon arrival, the team was welcomed by a team working with the UNHCR who helped them deliver all the items they brought with them.
The purpose of this activity was to instill a sense of responsibility in our students to care for those less fortunate and to help everyone in their community. The initiative was a great start by the students who became even more devoted to helping those in need. “It was a wonderful activity at the school that reminded us of the importance of charity and giving back,” said a student.
