Kalar Students Clean Up the Community

The SABIS Student Life Organization®’s (SLO®) Social Responsibility Department at Kalar International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, held a cleaning campaign at the school on October 22, 2016.

The cleaning campaign involved all the prefects and was an effort to clean the school and school community. The students started with the school gardens and football yards, and worked their way to the school surroundings and even the public park next to the school. Once they collected all the trash, the students called the garbage collection company to take them away.

The purpose of this school clean-up campaign was to educate students on the negative impacts of littering on the environment. It also showed students the difference between a clean community and a trash-filled one. Another important lesson learned during this campaign was the power of working together and commitment to creating a better environment. “It was a wonderful activity that provided a chance to work as team with our teachers to keep our country free of pollution,” said a student.
