KALAR GRADE 1 STUDENTS SOLVE ALPHABET PUZZLES

On February 2, 2019, students in Grade 1 at Kalar International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, participated in an educational event solving alphabet puzzles. The SABIS® Student Life Organization (SLO®) in cooperation with the English teachers arranged the activity for the students.

The students were divided into groups and were given printed papers with the letters of the words which the students had been taught at school.  All the papers were cut the same size and square shape in order to make it easier for them to arrange. Once they understood the instructions, how to deal with the puzzle problems, and unscrambling the words, the students had great fun playing and helping each other solve the word problems. After the activity they enjoyed lunch together and were picked up by their parents.

The purpose of the activity was to encourage students to review the words that they have learned at school and motivate them to work effectively as a team in a game setting. “It was an interesting and exciting way of reviewing vocabulary. It was great fun to solve the alphabet puzzles,” said a student.
