Grade 2 Students Visit Sherwana Castle
Grade 2 students of Kalar International School, a SABIS® PPP school, visited Sherwana Castle on October, 24, 2015. The educational event was organized by the SABIS Student Life Organization®’s (SLO®) Social Responsibility Department.
At the beginning of the activity, the Student Life Coordinator and Activities Coordinator explained the history of the castle and talked about who built it. Then, the students went group by group inside the castle, and were told about the ancient tools that were used by people in the past. After that, the students went to the museum that is next to the castle, and looked at the antiques their ancestors had used many years ago. Before heading home, the students ate their lunch.
All of the students were excited to see the castle, look at the statues, pictures, and antiques inside the castle, as well as museum. The students learned more about Kurdish history, traditions, and how people lived in the past. The parents were very thankful to Kalar International School for having an educational field trip for their children. This trip took place in order to make students more familiar with Kurdish history and traditions.
